Ari Valve
In 2003, Pima County, Az(Tucson), began construction of the Rancho Del Lago lift station II. A state of the art station, designed to pump sewage from the southernmost part of the county. (3) 2" air vacuum valves were needed for this project, and the county determined that the ARI D-020 316 stainless steel valves were the perfect fit.
Several factors go into the selection of ARI. It's unique conical shape, the superior material selection, low maintenance, wide operating range, easy installation, and proven track record , made ARI the logical choice.
Conical Shape: No flat surfaces for solids to build up on. Also allows for more operating room for the float, preventing the float from sticking. Unique shape also creates a more compressed air pocket as the valve narrows towards the top(Boyles law : every halving of volume = a doubling of pressure), therefore sewage does not get into the working mechanisms of the valve, and "spitting" or "burping" of raw sewage that is so common in other valves, does not happen with ARI. Yes, no more sewage at the bottom of your vault
Material Selection: Rather than reuse the same 80 year old antiquated cast iron valve that other manufacturers sell, ARI is innovative. Bodies manufactured of 316 stainless steel or fiberglass reinforced nylon are standards. The simplistic inner working is manufactured of 316 stainless steel, epdm rubber, and a solid polypropylene float. No more rusted, scaling valves.
Low Maintenance: You will see no backflush attachments on the ARI sewer valves. In essence, the mere presence of a backflush attachment is an admittance of a design flaw. If the valve is operating properly, sewage should never get into the working mechanisms of the valve. While with other "traditional" air release valve designs need constant attention and cleaning, the unique design of ARI lessens the maintainence of the valve substantially. When inspection/cleaning is done, simply close the ball valve, bleed out the air in the valve, and undo a few bolts.
Wide Operating Range: ARI offers a full range of air release valves, with various orifice's and pressure ratings. The most common for pump stations is the model D-020 that is shown here. With it wide operating range, up to 230 p.s.i., the D-020 is ideal for those spikes that occur when a pump starts up.
Easy Installation: 2" ARI valves air/vac valves can weigh as little at 7 lbs(nylon), compared to upwards of 70 lbs for cast valves. In addition to its lightweight design, the ARI valve is manufactured male threaded(shown above) or flanged. No galvanized nipple that is screwed into a cast iron body, and a brass shut off valve. Simply screw the valve right into the brass or plastic shut off valve.
Proven Track Record: Why are municipalities such as Louisville Metro S.D and Suffolk County, NY standardizing on ARI? Because they work. They work so well, that ARI offers a 5 year warranty on its products.
